The dandelion

The Dandelion

They say a dandelion can thrive in any conditions as long as there is earth beneath it and a wind in the air. Through the cracks in a pavement, beneath the roots of a tree…anywhere. From weed to flower it blossoms and yet others can be so quick to depreciate it. Ignorant or without understanding. Does this sound like anything familiar?

I fell a little bit in love with dandelions today. Call me ignorant but I had no idea that they transformed into such vibrant yellow flowers with petals. My walk to work is paved with them.

Now, I walk that same walk twice each day, to work and back – I just wonder what caused them to catch my eye today of all days?

If you stop to take a look at their intricacies, they really are breathtaking. Like little hairs standing on end. Admittedly I was tempted to pick one but for fear of cutting its life short I left it to admire once again on my walk to work tomorrow – I’ll let the wind take its seeds where they belong. Not forcing nature. Or who knows, maybe for someone else to discover, as I did.

They say a dandelion can thrive in any conditions as long as there is earth beneath it and a wind in the air, a bit like each one of us. We all have that ability to realise our potential and achieve it, blossoming into our very own vibrant flower with our own petals ignored no more.
